‘Tis the Season to be sniveling

The Holidays are upon us and so are the Jolly Germs, Festive Fruitcakes and Caroling Colds.

If you want to make sure you’re up for some “Holiday Cheers” instead of the “Holiday Chills”, follow Biff’s Top 5 quick tips on “How to prevent a cold”.

1) WASH YOUR HANDS

And keep them out of your mouth!

2) THINK “VITAMIN C”

Via fruit or vitamins… take your pick.

3) DRINK PLENTY OF H2O

8 to 10 glasses per day should do the trick.

4) GARLIC IS YOUR FRIEND

Your breath might stink, but you’ll feel great.

5) GET PLENTY OF SHUT EYE

Aim for between 7 & 8 hours per night.

Now Biff wants to know… How do YOU keep that “cold bug” at bay?

I haven’t been sick in 2 years since I began exercising, taking Echinecea and incorporated lemons, licorice and honey into my daily diet. Oh, and I eat yogurt 3 times a week for the probiotics.

I do all of the above but I find that the garlic tip is the best one. If ever I’m feel like a cold is coming on, I eat raw garlic and the next day, I feel 100%. I also take zinc daily and I heard that that helps as well.

A friend of mine takes cold baths as soon as she’s feeling under the weather. I personally haven’t tried it yet but it’s suppose to be really effective. Her family has been doing it for centuries.

Live a stress-free life. Fast one day per week. Meditate and have a clean natural diet. If you do happen to get a cold, make sure you stay warm and dry, don’t consume any dairy (forms mucus). You should also use a Neti pot and take hot Epson salt baths (if you have use of a sauna, even better so you can to sweat all those toxins out of your body). Although you should incorporate these into your regular diet, here are some great foods that can help fight colds. Tomatoes, Broccoli, Avocado, Bell peppers and Spinach. Remember, prevention is the key.
